Jan has been a loyal customer of mine for many years. We share a love of vintage assemblage jewellery – both of us enjoying the history, individuality and quirky nature of such pieces. Jan is a passionate collector, and over the years has amassed a collection of unique jewellery that she loves to wear every day. I have repaired several of her pieces over the years, so that she can continue to enjoy wearing them.

This lovely necklace was unwearable as the tongue on the vintage rhinestone clasp had broken. Fortunately we were able to source a similar clasp and repair it for her quickly.

“For a number of years, Meagan has skilfully managed and repaired many pieces from my extensive jewellery collection. Meagan's understanding of period pieces, her attention to detail and top class professional service make it a pleasure to work with her every time!”
– Jan C.

Maria

repaired pearl necklace with orphaned earing
beautiful repaired pearl necklace

Maria asked me if I could repair a strand of pearls with a special history and a strong sentimental value: 65 years ago, they were given to her mother on her 16th birthday by Maria’s grandfather. 65 years later, they remained one of her mother’s most loved pieces, but without a clasp, they were unwearable. I was asked if I could do anything with them. I remembered that I had a tiny vintage baroque pearl bead clasp in my collection that I thought would be a perfect match. And it was!!

I individually separated the pearls, re-knotted them and attached them to the new clasp – the clasp itself is so pretty that it can be worn at the front or the back.

“Mum was absolutely thrilled with her necklace, thank you so much”

FAQs

We will assess any items of costume jewellery for repair. We don’t undertake repairs on costume jewellery that require hard soldering. This is because we don’t know what metals your item of jewellery has been made from and cannot be sure how it will react under the high temperatures required. In addition, surface finishes and embellishments such as rhinestones will be damaged in the process.

We do not accept any fine jewellery (e.g. solid gold, precious gems).

If you have broken jewellery that you want reimagined into something new, (e.g. clip back earing into hook earrings or a necklace) we would recommend that you check out our Custom Order Service.

We start by assessing your piece(s) and your needs by by asking some questions. We will discuss possible repair techniques and give you an estimate of cost. Often this conversation can be done face to face (depending on your location) otherwise we can discuss on the phone, via email or through zoom.

Afterwards we go back to our workshop and create a more detailed plan including what parts we'll need to complete the repairs. Then we'll email you some photos and a quote that includes labour and any additional materials that may be needed to complete your project.

If you are happy with the quote, we'll then complete the project for you. If you are not, we will keep trying until we get the perfect design for you!

The process usually takes 2-4 weeks from our first conversation and assessment to completion depending on whether we need to order any materials that we don't have in stock.

The time of the overall process depends on the postage/travel times, arrival of your repaired pieces. If you are looking for a faster turn around please let us know when you contact us.

Our workshop is located in Coburg, Victoria.
