I made this whimsical necklace using a number of vintage elements including a red plastic plate with an oval silver filigree mounted to it and a lovely red crystal bead that I found in a Prague Flea Market. It contained a number of holes that enabled me to assemble a lovely necklace around it. I'm not sure what it might have been used for, hence the whimsical name I have given this necklace.
I finished this necklace with vintage jet hematite beads made in the Czech Republic, repurposed vintage brooch dangles and a silver toned cable chain.
It measures 88 cm along the neck edge and the red plaque measures 6 cm wide by 4.5 cm deep.
This necklace has been sustainably made using a combination of vintage and new materials. These vintage materials show some evidence of their age and former life in minor wear and a deepened patina. I think that is what gives them so much charm.
Handmade in Australia.
