These delightful earrings have been upcycled from vintage screw-back earrings in the shape of a flower. Each petal is set with Paua shell and they are marked Sterling Silver Made in New Zealand on the back.
In Maori culture the way the colours of the Paua shell shift in the light is a symbol of change and transition.
- ethically and sustainably made
- there is only one one pair
- made from vintage screw-back earrings c 1940s-50s
- 3.5 cm in length
- suspended on sterling silver hooks
These earrings have been made in my Melbourne workshop with vintage materials which may hold some evidence of their former life in a deepened patina and minor wear. I think that is what gives them so much charm.
