This necklace was made in homage to the 1920's sautoir, a style that involved long, often waist length necklaces showcasing loops of beads, chains pendants or tassels.
I started with some gorgeous vintage Japanese made pearl bead chain, bead tassels and Korean made pearl bead drops that we made circa 1950s-60s. I used a vintage brass stamping, that resembled the entrance to a temple...and who would not want to contemplate these gorgeous beads in such a setting!
This necklace measures approximately 88 cm around the neck edge. The brass stamping is 5.5 x 2.5 cm wide and the pendant/tassel measures 12 cm in length. It is designed to go over your head, so it does not have a clasp.
Handmade using vintage materials which show some evidence of their age in minor wear and a deepened patina; I think that is what gives them so much charm.
