I was inspired to make this pretty Spring themed necklace by a vintage jewellery advertisement published for Coro in 1951. I think it evokes the freshness of Spring with its crisp white and green colours.
I created the central flower using repurposed white seed beads and a vintage yellow pearl bead. Two pressed glass leaves from the 1960s-70s that I found in a Prague flea market complete the floral centrepiece. I combined my handmade flower with milk glass beads that I repurposed from a vintage necklace. You can see the advertisement that inspired this story here.
It measures 44.5 cm along the neck edge and is finished with a hook clasp.
This necklace is sustainably made and contains vintage and repurposed materials which hold some evidence of their former life in a deepened patina and minor wear. I think that is what gives them so much charm.
Handmade in Australia.
