A strong desire to know or learn something or it can be an interesting or unusual object.
This unique necklace is part of my 'curiosity' collection inspired by some of the latest jewellery fashion trends: layers of chains, mixed metals and everyday objects or curiosities. It brings together these on trend elements with a sustainable, vintage twist.
This bold statement necklace was inspired by a large red and white rhinestone pendant in the form of a Fleur-de-lys from the 1980s. Mixed metal vintage/repurposed chains are combined with the Fleur-de-lys pendant, a French 5 franc coin with the face of Lady Liberty, a cross shaped bead and crucifix, an ornate gold bead and a chandelier crystal.
It measures 44.5cm along the neck edge and is finished with a hook clasp.
These chains don't tangle when worn if they are layered correctly based on my own wear testing of this design. However they do tangle if not stored carefully, because of course chains have the ability to slip between each other. Please refer to my guide to wearing and storing this necklace for hints on how to best manage this.
Sustainably made in my Melbourne workshop using vintage repurposed materials, which may show evidence of age in a deepened patina and minor wear. I think that is what gives them so much charm.
