Simply beautiful...
Don't you love the way the vintage and new elements in this necklace combine to create something very special?
I created a beautiful focal by combining a 1930s-1940s rhinestone set dress clip with a pot metal and plastic Art Deco pendant. The dress clip which is still functional measures 5 x 3 cm and is marked 'Fabrique en Tschécoslovaquie' which means that it was made in Czechoslovakia for the French market.
This story was finished with lovely translucent Champagne Chalcedony beads. This is a semi precious stone from the Quartz family. It is said to be a nurturing stone that can bring the mind, body and spirit into harmony.
This necklace measures 48 cm along the neck edge and is finished with a hook clasp.
Sustainably made in Australia, this necklace contains vintage and repurposed materials which show evidence of their age in a deepened patina and minor wear. In particular the plating at the centre of the dress clip has worn away to show some of the base metal. I think this is what gives vintage items their great charm.
