I was inspired to make this sunny necklace by a floral jewellery fragment that I came across at a flea market. It has carved shell petals accented with yellow and a faux pearl centre, and these reminded me of the gorgeous colours of Frangipani flowers. I mounted this onto a vintage brass daisy stamping and combined it with soft yellow beads in a matt and faux pearl finish that I sourced from old warehouse stock. These beads date from the 1950s to 1960s.
It measures 48.5 cm along the neck edge and is finished with a hook clasp.
Sustainably made by hand in Australia, this necklace contains vintage and repurposed materials which hold some evidence of their former life in a deepened patina and minor wear. I think that is what gives them so much charm.
