This necklace was made in homage to the 1920's sautoir, a style that involved long often waist length necklaces showcasing loops of beads, chains pendants or tassels.
I started with an Art Deco pot metal rhinestone-set belt buckle and some gorgeous vintage black crystal beads made in Czechoslovakia circa 1960s. I ended this necklace with a double tassel approximately 9.5 cm in length finished with new faceted glass drops.
This necklace measures approximately 84 cm around the neck edge. The repurposed buckle measures 5 cm along each edge (which is off set in a diamond shape) and 2 cm wide.
Handmade using vintage materials which show some evidence of their age in minor wear and a deepened patina; I think that is what gives them so much charm.
