A Sautoir necklace is a long chain or beaded necklace, often terminating in tassels or a pendant. This style was very popular in the 1920s.
This sautoir features a wonderful Art Deco pot-metal button. Pot metal was commonly used until the 1940s to create settings for jewellery and decorative buttons. This button is set with a beautiful emerald rhinestone star. I have combined it with a vintage metal buckle made to imitate cut-steel, some repurposed textured chain, vintage beads and new cable chain.
This necklace is:
- ethically and sustainably made
- one of a kind
- made with vintage and repurposed materials including mixed metals
- 87 cm in the chain length (refer to my necklace guide for more information) with the pendant measuring 6.5 x 4.5 cm
Handmade in my Melbourne workshop, this necklace contains vintage repurposed materials. These hold some evidence of their former life in a deepened patina and minor wear; I think that is what gives them so much charm.
