I have created this necklace using an unfinished vintage brass and copper locket once intended for gold-plating. It has been embellished with an emerald green glass cameo which I found on my recent trip to Prague, made in the Jablonec region of Czechoslovakia in the 1960s. I have matched it with lustrous Japanese-made pearl beads and some repurposed emerald beads from a broken 1960s stranded necklace.
It measures 43 cm along the neck edge. The locket measures 3 cm in diameter and is fully functional; perfect for holding a special keepsake or two.
This handmade necklace contains vintage and repurposed materials. These hold some evidence of their former life in a deepened patina and minor wear; I think that is what gives them so much charm.
