I combined a butterfly shaped pendant with some facetted Opalite beads and an unusual vintage wave sequin chain which I embellished with small Opalite beads to create this beautifully feminine necklace. It feels soft, light and airy when you wear it.
Opalite is a man-made stone which has an opalescent blue hue with hints of fiery orange depending on the way light strikes it. It is said to have a soft soothing effect when held or viewed.
This necklace is:
- ethically and sustainably made
- one of a kind
- made with a repurposed earring and faux pearl beads both from the 1950s-60s
- 44 cm along the neck edge (refer to my necklace guide for more information)
- Finished with a hook clasp
Sustainably made in my Melbourne workshop, this necklace contains vintage and repurposed materials which show signs of their age in a deepened patina and minor wear. I think that is what gives them so much charm.
