A strong desire to know or learn something or it can be an interesting or unusual object.
This unique necklace is part of my 'curiosity' collection inspired by some of the latest jewellery fashion trends: layers of chains, mixed metals and everyday objects or curiosities. It brings together these on trend elements with a sustainable, vintage twist.
This necklace tells a story of mystery and romance. It combines four repurposed mixed metal chains with vintage elements: an Aladdin's lamp bracelet charm, 1970s moon stamping with a striped agate bead, an orphaned 1950s-60s Moonglow Lucite earring in gondola form (think magic carpet), a charm repurposed from a belly dancer's belt and a chandelier crystal.
It measures 46 cm along the neck edge and is finished with a hook clasp.
These chains don't tangle when worn if they are layered correctly based on my own wear testing of this design. However they do tangle if not stored carefully, because of course chains have the ability to slip between each other. Please refer to my guide to wearing and storing this necklace for hints on how to best manage this.
Sustainably made in my Melbourne workshop using vintage repurposed materials, which may show evidence of age in a deepened patina and minor wear. I think that is what gives them so much charm.
