A strong desire to know or learn something or it can be an interesting or unusual object.
This unique necklace is part of my 'curiosity' collection inspired by some of the latest jewellery fashion trends: layers of chains, mixed metals and everyday objects or curiosities. It brings together these on trend elements with a sustainable, vintage twist.
Four different vintage/repurposed mixed metal chains are combined with vintage curiosities in this necklace. These include a rhinestone set pendant, a repurposed circle based clip back earring, an interesting earring with a centre that rotates, a leaf charm and a chandelier crystal. This was the first of the necklaces that I created for this collection and it reminded me of Alice... curiouser and curiouser she said!
It measures 45 cm along the neck edge and is finished with a hook clasp.
These chains don't tangle when worn if they are layered correctly based on my own wear testing of this design. However they do tangle if not stored carefully, because of course chains have the ability to slip between each other. Please refer to my guide to wearing and storing this necklace for hints on how to best manage this.
Sustainably made in my Melbourne workshop using vintage repurposed materials, which may show evidence of age in a deepened patina and minor wear. I think that is what gives them so much charm.
